The Western Provinces

The Western Provinces are a vast, fractured region on the edge of the former Allyrian Empire. For centuries, the land was connected by roads, cities, and shared rule, but that ended after two long winters devastated the population and forced the empire to withdraw.

Today, the Provinces are made up of hundreds of independent city-states — large cities, fortified towns, and smaller strongholds. They trade, fight, and form alliances, but nothing lasts long. Most people are either Salian or Caernic, though the difference between them is small and often mixed. Outside the settlements, much of the land has fallen into ruin or wilderness, and travel is always uncertain.
